Kids MMA Classes in Galveston, Texas

The first kids class at CSI: Combat Sports Institute was a huge success. The kids started out with a fun and exciting warm-up ran by Coach Ralph Garcia. Coach OZ taught the Muay Thai Kickboxing combinations. Then Coach Randy Hauer taught a nice Wrestling Take Down. Ace and Joe Garcia picked up the moves really quick! All the kids were able to drill the moves and then perform them in live Grappling.!!! The last 15 minutes were saved for some fun conditioning and balance games.

Come check out the new Kids BJJ Program at CSI: Combat Sports Institute in Galveston. The ages range from 5-15. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 PM. In the class the students will go over Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Judo, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

New Years MMA 2012 Galveston Texas!!!

This year Galveston MMA and CSI: Combat Sports Institute closed out the 2011 Mixed Martial Arts Season with a BANG!!

We had two fighters stepping into the cage. Chase Eastham was up first. This was his first MMA event. He has done a couple of BJJ and Wrestling tournaments. Now he wanted to step into the cage to fight.

Chase and Opponent

First round was Muay Thai Kickboxing.
Second round was Muay Thai Kickboxing with Take Downs.
Third Round was Mixed Martial Arts.

Chase was able to go in there and fight hard. His combos looked clean and fast for the first round. The second round he took a couple of knees to the mid section. Chase slowed down a little after that and his opponent was able to squeeze out the victory. Overall it was a good showing for the young fighter.

Ralph Garcia was up next. Ralph's fighter backed out at the last minute but they were able to find someone to fight in his place. Luckily they found someone on last notice to fight. This was going to be a Muay Thai Kickboxing fight but at last minute they changed it to Mixed Martial Arts. That was not a problem for Ralph. The Galveston MMA fighter was able to go in and take care of business. The Ref had to stop the fight in under one minute. Ralph Garcia was able to take his opponent down early in the first round and finish with strikes!

Congrats to both fighters for going in there and putting it on the line. They both fought hard!!! Not everyone got what they wanted but it was still a good showing for the two CSI: Combat Sports Institute Fighters!

Galveston MMA First Official Tournament

Coach Evan Gideon and student Kyle showed up early Saturday morning ready to compete. Kyle would be the first person fighting for Galveston MMA. This is a pretty big deal since Galveston has not had a Mixed Martial Arts school on the island ever! They are a new school and have only been open for 2 months. Now they have two medals after their first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament.

Kyle took second at his first tournament getting one submission. His first match he was able to pull off the Kimora from closed guard. The second fight he was able to lock on the Kimora again but was not able to finish the submission. The match ended 3-0. Kyle was the silver medalist! Overall it was a good showing for the new BJJ fighter.

Evan ended up fighting two tough fights. The first fight Evan was taken down off a quick double leg. With thirty seconds left in the match Evan was able to finish his opponent with a arm bar from guard. Very close first match. In Evans second match he was able to rack up a lot of points winning 20-0 for the gold medal.
