Bully Defense Galveston Texas 2013 | Put a Stop to Bullying

Bullying is getting to become a HUGE problem! Every week I hear about a kid being bullied or actually seeing youth bullying other peers. A lot of the time the person doing the bullying doesn't even know they are hurting the other person. In this case though a young man stood up for his sister was punished and the bullies walked free.

Here at Galveston BJJ we go over many ways to deal with this type of Bullying. The youth here are trained to defend themselves verbally and physically if the problem arises.

PARENTS!!!!! Please go over some of these verbal self defense situations with your kids!

Situation #1    A bully comes up to your child and put his hands on your child by pushing him to the ground or maybe punching him in the stomach.... What should your Child say or do??

Get up and punch the bully in the face???      NO!
Start walking away to take more punishment right then and later from the same Bully??? NO!

What they should do is this.... Look the Bully Straight in the eye and say I will not let you bully me anymore! I do know how to defend myself and if you put your hands on me I will defend myself!

Situation #2   At School children are messing with another student about his or her clothes or verbally bullying a student.....   Should this child sit there and take the verbal abuse?  NO!

Your son or daughter should be able to look the bully straight in the eyes and stop the verbal abuse from going any further. Either by informing a adult or teacher would be a great way to stop this type of altercation as well.

At Galveston BJJ we work with the kids to help them learn how to talk to bullies and Teachers to stop the verbal assaults from happening. We also work with the youth so they can defend themselves physically. It is very important that our youth have the confidence and know how to defend themselves in today's world. Bullying has taken its toll on way to many of our youth. Lets put a stop to Bullying!!!

CALL US NOW to get your student started on their 30 DAY FREE TRIAL. 409 877 6515 or Email galvestonbjj@gmail.com

DON'T LET YOUR CHILD FALL VICTIM TO BULLIES!!!

Starting the New Year Right Jan 1st 2013 Galveston TX | Mixed Martial Arts Training

Today is the first day of the New Year! Some people are taking it easy some are getting busy. Put us on the list of getting busy! Paradigm is on the way down to train right now. So I'm going to get on the mats real quick and train. Ill make sure and take some pictures and videos to post later! TIME TO PUT ON THE GI! OOUUSS

Ok I'm back! We just had a gi training session then NOGI then back to gi! Feels great to start off the new year on the right foot! I love training sessions like the one we had just now. When people come from other gyms they bring a different style and different techniques. This is a huge advantage to the guys who want to compete or already do compete. Its pretty much like a competition in the room. But no one is keeping score and thinking they won the comp. Just hard rolling and sharing of BJJ techniques.

Left to Right
Toro& Bella, Shad, Reed, Evan, Mike, Harper, Autstin
Pho, Rooster, Amy, Bori, Alex
NOGI Warriors

Right after the picture we put the gis on and got right back to business. Galveston MMA and Paradigm have a lot of tournaments coming up. So this is the time to train and get ready for them. The guys from Houston are going to come down here and train with us weekly.

New Mats for the MMA Warehouse!

Here in Galveston, TX we have been working hard to build a Mixed Martial Arts gym to fit the Island. We have been working with a little less than 1,000 sqft of mats. But after today the gym has upgraded to 1,600 sqft  of mat space. This new addition to the gym will let us open up the schedule and add more classes.

Take a look at the new mats!!!

This is just the beginning of the transformation. To the left we have the squat rack, bench, treadmill and about 400lbs of weights! This MMA gym is coming along slowly but surely. Everyday we add something new to the gym and it is starting to look nice! The 9,000 sqft facility will be the biggest and best place to train here on the Island.

New Years MMA 2012 Galveston Texas!!!

This year Galveston MMA and CSI: Combat Sports Institute closed out the 2011 Mixed Martial Arts Season with a BANG!!

We had two fighters stepping into the cage. Chase Eastham was up first. This was his first MMA event. He has done a couple of BJJ and Wrestling tournaments. Now he wanted to step into the cage to fight.

Chase and Opponent

First round was Muay Thai Kickboxing.
Second round was Muay Thai Kickboxing with Take Downs.
Third Round was Mixed Martial Arts.

Chase was able to go in there and fight hard. His combos looked clean and fast for the first round. The second round he took a couple of knees to the mid section. Chase slowed down a little after that and his opponent was able to squeeze out the victory. Overall it was a good showing for the young fighter.

Ralph Garcia was up next. Ralph's fighter backed out at the last minute but they were able to find someone to fight in his place. Luckily they found someone on last notice to fight. This was going to be a Muay Thai Kickboxing fight but at last minute they changed it to Mixed Martial Arts. That was not a problem for Ralph. The Galveston MMA fighter was able to go in and take care of business. The Ref had to stop the fight in under one minute. Ralph Garcia was able to take his opponent down early in the first round and finish with strikes!

Congrats to both fighters for going in there and putting it on the line. They both fought hard!!! Not everyone got what they wanted but it was still a good showing for the two CSI: Combat Sports Institute Fighters!

Galveston MMA First Official Tournament

Coach Evan Gideon and student Kyle showed up early Saturday morning ready to compete. Kyle would be the first person fighting for Galveston MMA. This is a pretty big deal since Galveston has not had a Mixed Martial Arts school on the island ever! They are a new school and have only been open for 2 months. Now they have two medals after their first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament.

Kyle took second at his first tournament getting one submission. His first match he was able to pull off the Kimora from closed guard. The second fight he was able to lock on the Kimora again but was not able to finish the submission. The match ended 3-0. Kyle was the silver medalist! Overall it was a good showing for the new BJJ fighter.

Evan ended up fighting two tough fights. The first fight Evan was taken down off a quick double leg. With thirty seconds left in the match Evan was able to finish his opponent with a arm bar from guard. Very close first match. In Evans second match he was able to rack up a lot of points winning 20-0 for the gold medal.
